What does the warning label on luggage mean? I bought a diane von furstenburg suitcase today and I realized that there is a small black tag that reads: warning this product contains chemical known by the state of california to cause cancer or birth defects. Does anyone know about this tag? Is it safe to use? thank you
Picking up luggage from airport? Hi, I'm going to be flying by myself for the first time next week...and I have a few questions: 1. How do I pay for checked luggage? At the airport while I'm fixing labels onto my luggage? 2. How long do I have to wait before my luggage arrives? Do I wait at the luggage pick-up area? I'm so confused :( Oh yeah and..can I carry a carry-on bag PLUS a backpack onto the plane for free?
Is it alright to bring about 200 tea packets in checked luggage from Japan to America? Hi, in about 5 days I will be flying to USA from Japan. Is it alright to bring tea packets? There are about... 30 tea packets in each little plastic bag, and there are 7 plastic bags. They are labeled either "Dokudami" or "Diet" by the manufacturer. Is it okay to bring these through checked luggage? Do you think that they will question what it is? I have the 2 of the boxes (one dokudami, one diet) that the plastic bags came in.

Will you be downloading Madeleine tags for your holiday luggage? Jacqueline McKernan and Elaine Doyle are appealing to holidaymakers to download the labels from the internet and tie them on their luggage to keep the search for Madeleine in the public eye. What's the best way to store pills when travelling on an airplane? I take migraine medication which comes in blister packs. Without thinking, I separated my name labels from the ones I will be taking with me. I was thinking that I'd put them in my checked luggage and only take a small amount with me in my carry-on. Will this cause trouble since the blister packs are partially metallic aluminum or whatever. Should I just ask the pharamcy to create a pill bottle for me? What about Tylenol and aspirin? Do I have to carry those in their original bottles? Thanks for any help!
I lost Coach bags in my checked-in luggage after I came back from NY JFK. Can police man help this case? I took Delta (DL705) from NY JFK and transfered in LAX(CI005) back to Taiwan. I found out that there were 3 Coach bags,2 Coach wallets and 2 CK wallets missing. Total value is about USD650. However, I originally packed some clothes in these bags still left in the luggage. Obviously, it must be somebody steal these bags and leave those unuseful stuff to us during inspection process. Bt the way, I also got TSA label on the luggage. Can NY or LA police help this case? Who can I claim for?
swissport/easyjet lost luggage? Please can anyone help me. my son flew from stansted to newcastle on an internal flight to work as a DJ for the weekend. He had a electrical mixer machine which he took on board and was told to put his holdall in the fragile check in. It was covered in easyjet fragile labels and sent down the belt to be put on the plane. after a 50 min. flight he was first to wait for the 40 bagged luggage to come up the convayor but also his bag did not arrive. he went to servisair desk who said "hopefully it will be on the next flight at 10pm if not so be it!!" and left him to it? I have spent the whole day calling stansted swissport who are so so rude and also the management at newcastle and the out come is so far that stansted are saying it 100% went onto the aircraft and must be in newcastle (according to paperwork) and newcastle are saying it was not on the aircraft and i give them their due they have been looking and emailing all day long to stansted and all other airports about the bag. The main problem is all his CD's for his work tonight were in the bag he has been told that he will be sacked tonight if they do not turn up. this now becomes serious because he has lost £500 for this weekend alone in wages and his job that he fought so hard to get. Stansted airport have told him that if the bag does not turn up then he has to claim off his own insurance?? Does anyone know if this is true? why are they not responsible for the bag? What about his loss of earnings? i want the baggage handlers to pay for this incident big time why should they get away with it by fobbing it off and tell us to claim on our insurance. they lost the bag not him its been such a stressful day all around and I do not know where to start please please can somone help us. many thanks
Can I take a corset in my hand luggage? I'm going to be flying from Gatwick to Germany in a couple of days and my outfit is really important, so I'm packing it in my hand luggage, to be on the safe side. But I'm slightly concerned that security might take issue with my corset - it's steel boned, so may look rather odd on the scanners and is bespoke, so has no labels etc. I would be beyond devastated if they confiscated it - would it be more of a risk to pack it in my hand luggage than in my suitcase? Also are long umbrellas allowed on with passengers? It's too long to fit into a suitcase!
Is it ok to bring my dog on an airplane? I am planning on labeling him as carry on luggage and insist that his travels with me to india. my dog is a Edwardian Sheephassler, and is great around people friends. i hopeeee i can!!! btw i am planning on using jet blue.
Long Lasting Funky Travel Bag? I'm looking for a really cool travel bag, sort've holdall size, small enough to fit on the plane as hand luggage but big enough to fit my stuff and toddler essentials in it. I bought one from Dorothy Perkins but it broke really quickly so I'm willing to pay a little bit extra but under £100 to get a really good quality one that will last. I quite like Ollie and Nic bags but as its A/W they aren't selling their luggage at the mo. Does anyone know where I can get Ollie and Nic bags at discount or find their luggage all year round? Can anyone recommend a good luggage label? Many thanks!
I want to take my violin with me when I fly to London in March. What is the best way to do this? I am going for a year to Europe and it is almost vital that I take my violin with me as I want to get lessons there and also hopefully get a job playing it. It is worth over AU$2000. I am flying with Thai Airlines and carry-on luggage must fit in a 54x46cm space. My violin case is 75cm long and my bow is around 65cm long. I have been told that instruments have been known to get broken when travelling down in the hold, even when labelled 'fragile'. Has anyone done this themselves? My violin teacher said that she knows someone who carried their violin in a silk bag on with them and held it the whole time. I could do this, but I am flying from Australia and I will be in transit for around 24 hours and it may get broken in this long time. I could buy or borrow/hire one over there, but I don't have much money, have only just got this one, and it is quite good already. Also, it would be a pain selling it at the end of the year. What do you think my best option is? I do not live in the US and i'm not travelling via there, so those strict carry-on rules do not apply. I cannot carry-on my violin because it is far too big - I have already checked with them about their size requirements.
Can I take my liquid medication with me on the plane? My mom is flying next week and she has to take liquid medication to help with her esophagus. Her medication comes in a big bottle (a little bigger than a bottle of water). It's a prescription and the bottle has a prescription label on it. Since it's over 3 ounces but it is a prescription, will they let her carry it on with her? She's only taking a duffel bag and no luggage to save money.
Selling company property on ebay? I worked for an airline for a while and got made redundant last year. I had a few bits left in my bag including a few magazines, luggage labels and 2 safety cards so thought instead of binning them, somebody out there would probably have a use for them so i sold them on ebay, but have now had a letter off the company informing me that i had 'stolen the items' (which i hadn't, they had been passed down from a collegue) and that i had been reported to the police. What could be the outcome? The company gave them to us and to him! they never asked for anything back etc some of the other items i sold included flight plans which we normally put in the bin after the flight
Medication in hand luggage for flights? I'm going away with my dad for a weekend. Rather than taking a suitcase we're just going to take hand luggage. I have to take tablets to control my periods and I am unsure about the rules for this. I don't want the security to pull them out of my bag because it would be very awkward and then my dad might get the wrong idea. If I put them in the correct packaging with the label on saying what they are, will it just go through the x ray machine without me having to put them in a clear plastic bag? Thanks
Lost my luggage on Interstate 5, somewhere between San Francisco and LA? Lost my red suitcase driving on Interstate 5 from SF to LA. That happened on March 11th, 2006. The suitcase was labeled with a piece of paper, but since it was pouring that weekend, I am afraid that it may have felt off. Please let me know the best place to start asking? Police?, highway patrol? Adriana Garcia adrianaegarcia@sbcglobal.net 510-410-8595
do passenger airplanes normally hold mail as well as baggage? i was sitting in chili's in chicago o'hare waiting for my plane and was watching people take out the luggage from an airplane. they started taking out a bunch of boxes (there was about 15 or 20)labeled "USPS" which i assumed was mail. i thought USPS would fly it to chicago, not united airlines. do airplanes often deliver mail? why don't the mail companies or whatever deliver it themselves? i men't i thought USPS would fly the mail to chicago themselves, not united airlines
Alcohol on a plane...with special circumstances? Alright, so I'm 20 years old (underage) and I am flying to Ohio in about a month. I wish to pack a 1 Liter bottle of alcohol (195 proof) in my luggage (not on a carry-on). Is this legal? I've heard that alcohol over 100 proof is not allowed, but will the airline know this? I could just rip off the label or pour it into a water bottle. By the way, this alcohol is clear.
Lost luggage.? How can a medium-sized suitcase checked in with other people and appropriately labelled get lost between Manchester (UK) and Hanover (Germany)? Any sensible answers please. (Last year my 'plane was only attacked by lightning!)
Going to Florida tommorow, My mom needs Medication bringing? My mom takes a lot of Medication, they are all non liquids and are in boxes with the label from the Pharmacy still on there, They are all individually packaged. Is she ok to just put them into the Suitcase or do they have to go in hand luggage?
What's considered "unidentifiable" liquids for carry-on luggages? Does it only include alcoholic beverages (i.e. without label or alcoholic content) or does it also include any sort of liquids including toiletry items (like cleansers, toothpaste, liquid lotions, makeup items, etc)? I also know that sharp items are not allowed in carry-ons, what other items are not allowed (since they seem to be more strict recently) I don't know if this makes a difference but I will be riding with Air Canada airlines for an international flight.
Can i claim compensation for lost luggage from easyjet? I flew from belfast int airport to edinburgh airport over the halloween hoidays myself & my 7 year old son. My son is an asthmatic & all his medcation was in the suitcase, when we arrived at edinburgh our suitcase was missing. Am I allowed to bring 3 oz.of shampoo in carry on luggage on an airplane? I've heard the 3 oz. rule, and I'm planning to bring one bottle of shampoo, one of conditioner; both were purchased from the travel-size area of Walmart. I'm wondering if this will cause me any problems. Also, I have an unmarked 3 oz. bottle of body lotion (I had to buy the bottle and fill it with cocoa butter because they don't sell travel size). Wondered if the lack of label would give me a problem; this is the first time I've flown. I'm staying continental U.S., if that matters. Thanks! P.S. - I know they have to be kept in a quart sized bag, also. :3
Preparing for away from home camp? This is the first year my son will be going to sleep away camp. He is 9 and I just want him to be well prepared. Is there an easy way to mark his belongings with his name? I saw that I could order some ready made labels but I don't know if I will get them in time now because he is supposed to leave the last weekend of July, plus I thought they were a little pricey for something I could probably easily do on my own. I just don't want the markings to come off. Also, for those that have done the camp thing before, is it worthwhile to get a foot locker? I thought I could just send him with luggage. Any other tips for preparing for this would be great.
how does the article make distinction between firms? use these distionctions to analyze and gain insights? Abstract (Summary) Instead, Giancarlo Di Risio, Versace's bespectacled chief executive, presided over an evening that highlighted luxury goods: Parked at one end of the courtyard was a half-million-dollar Lamborghini Murcielago with a black-and-white leather interior by Versace. Reproduced with permission of copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission. Milan -- When Italian fashion house Gianni Versace SpA recently threw a cocktail party in the courtyard of its 16th-century palazzo to promote its latest creations, designer Donatella Versace ducked out of the soiree early, flanked by bodyguards. Instead, Giancarlo Di Risio, Versace's bespectacled chief executive, presided over an evening that highlighted luxury goods: Parked at one end of the courtyard was a half-million-dollar Lamborghini Murcielago with a black-and-white leather interior by Versace. A huge poster showed an AgustaWestland helicopter with a Versace-designed cabin. Stacked nearby was luggage embossed with the brand's Greek motif, with pieces starting at about $4,000. Mr. Di Risio is trying to shift Versace's attention away from clothes and to accessories, home interiors and other lifestyle products that will bring in new streams of revenue and offset fickle fashion cycles. "Fashion does not exist at Versace," he said, describing his strategy in an interview before the reception. The new approach is bearing fruit. Versace swung back into the black last year, posting a $25.4 million profit after years of losses, and has shaken off millions in debt. Driving that turnaround were rising sales in the lucrative accessories Mr. Di Risio is pushing. Yet the effects of the makeover have touched the core of the company's identity. Ms. Versace has begun taming the flamboyant clothing designs that once set her and the fashion house apart from the crowd. "I no longer recognize myself in that kind of woman," the 52-year-old Ms. Versace said in a telephone interview. The culture shift at Versace highlights how an increasingly competitive fashion industry is forcing even the most freewheeling players to embrace a corporate culture. Many labels, including LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton's smaller brands like Celine and Marc Jacobs, have also been toning down their looks to appeal to a wider swath of consumers. Designers who once called the shots are ceding authority to executives who run the numbers. "In the beginning, it was a shock for me," Ms. Versace said. "When you tell a person who is used to being in power -- to saying yes or no on everything -- to take a step back, it's not easy. But it was necessary." Tweaking a label's aesthetics carries risks. If pushed too far, transformations risk alienating loyal customers, says Robert Burke, head of New York-based luxury-goods consultancy Robert Burke Associates and the former fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman. "You will always want to see a fashion edge to Versace," he says. Yet for family-owned fashion labels like Versace, pressure to make more money is high. They compete with publicly traded conglomerates such as LVMH and PPR SA's Gucci Group, which have the financial heft to expand with stores in the emerging markets of China, India and Russia -- seen as fueling the industry's growth. A number of Italy's top family-owned fashion houses, including Versace, Prada SpA and Salvatore Ferragamo SpA, are considering stock- market listings in the next couple of years. "An IPO would be the best way to raise money and implant in these countries," says Peter Farren, a luxury-goods analyst at the French investment firm Bryan Garnier. At Versace, a sobering realization is spurring Mr. Di Risio's moves: The clothes that once made the brand are now struggling to make money. In its heyday in the early 1990s, Versace stayed ahead of the fashion mainstream with lavish catwalk shows that celebrated the racy designs of founder Gianni Versace. The label amassed collections of real estate and artwork that enhanced the family's jet-setter status. The company found it increasingly tough to squeeze profits out of highly perishable fashions as production costs rose in Italy. In 1997, Mr. Versace was murdered outside his Miami villa. The firm's finances went into a tailspin, and it was forced to shelve plans to go public. Mr. Versace's 50% stake in the label went to his niece, Ms. Versace's then-preteen daughter Allegra Versace Beck, shifting the balance of power. Though Ms. Versace owns only 20% of the company, she was seen to exert huge influence because of her daughter's stake. A third sibling, Santo Versace, owns the remaining 30% of the company. Ms. Versace Beck, now 20 years old, manages her stake with the help of advisers. The Versace stakeholders decided the company needed a CEO who could turn the company around. Fabio Cacciatori, at one time an outside financial consultant for the company, became CEO in September 2003 but resigned in December. The company named Versace's then-Chief Financial Officer Daniele Ballestrazzi interim CEO as it searched for new leadership. When Versace recruited Mr. Di Risio from LVMH's Fendi label in the summer of 2004, the house was saddled with more than $146 million in debt and heading to a net loss of $124 million for the year, on revenue of $416 million. High-end retailers like Bergdorf Goodman had stopped carrying the brand. Bergdorf Chief Executive Jim Gold recalls that Versace was distributing too widely, diluting its exclusivity, and was overly consumed with making a splash on the runway. While many labels had started delivering retailers fresh designs more frequently, ahead of the runway collections, Versace resisted. Mr. Di Risio arrived with a new mantra. Clothing that is too fashionable, he told his lieutenants, is bad for business because it eats up capital and goes out of style quickly. Accessories and other leather goods are a better bet because they have a longer shelf life and fatter profit margins. To reduce Versace's dependence on fashion, Mr. Di Risio shut down lines such as Versace Intimates lingerie and Versace Young, a children's line. The company sold its unprofitable perfume, jewelry and watchmaking divisions, replacing them with lucrative licensing agreements with U.S. watch group Timex Corp. and Italian perfume and cosmetics maker EuroItalia Srl. Mr. Di Risio homed in on the company's shoes and handbags, which have higher profit margins because they cost less to produce than clothes but are easier to sell to a wide array of customers. Last year, more than 30% of Versace's $383 million in revenue came from accessories, compared with 4% when Mr. Di Risio arrived. He also expanded the label's push into home furnishings -- a business that generated sales of $82.5 million in 2006, up 55% from the year before. Versace recently unveiled its "Jet Seat," an aerodynamically-styled leather chair in a high-tech ceramic frame that is sold in Europe for <euro>38,000 (about $50,000). "It was like taking a blank page and rewriting everything," Mr. Di Risio says. To succeed, however, he had to get Ms. Versace on board. She had hoped to resurrect the costly haute-couture fashion shows the label had discontinued before Mr. Di Risio's arrival. But he argued she could more effectively enhance the line's exclusivity by holding showings for individual clients. "I said to Di Risio, 'This is not going to work. This is going to die,'" recalled Ms. Versace. But, she said, "I was wrong, and he was right. We sell more now." Ms. Versace had to become more conscious of how much time and money the label invests in promoting designs at events like the Oscars. Last year, the designer dressed actresses Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman and Salma Hayek and director Robert Altman's wife, Kathryn Reed Altman, who donned a navy-blue sequin gown. This year, however, Ms. Versace limited herself to one gown, designing a rose-colored dress with a sweeping train for best-actress nominee Penelope Cruz. For Versace's ready-to-wear line, Ms. Versace is going for looks she calls "a little more understated." Bergdorf Goodman will carry her designs in the fall for the first time in years. Ms. Versace is also working more closely with retailers, adding four more collections beyond the traditional spring and fall runway collections. These are shown to retailers in private visits, giving them a preview of what to expect. On the financial side, Mr. Di Risio has untangled the company's assets from those of the family, selling property he deemed "nonstrategic" to pay the company's debts. The family's Manhattan townhouse was sold for about $35 million, and its contents went up for auction in 2005. The paintings alone -- including works by artists Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein and Julian Schnabel -- fetched more than $11 million dollars. Flagship stores in New York, London and Milan that Mr. Di Risio described as "decadent and sad," were redone with sleek, minimalist designs. The label, which operates 82 stores and has 35 franchise operations, plans to open more than 10 boutiques by the end of the year, including seven stores in China alone. When Versace opened the doors of its updated Moscow boutique in April, an array of leather bags, belts and shoes greeted customers at the store's lacquered ground-floor entrance. The label's ready-to-wear collection was relegated to the upper floor.
What is your tip-of-the-month for July that might benefit other senior citizens? tip = something new or just a reminder Here's mine: To retrieve stray reading glasses & sunglasses much more quickly, label them on the outside & not just on the inside. Someone who knows your name may call you back to the counter instead of tossing the glasses into the lost-and-found drawer. It worked for me after I'd used the phone & walked away from our front counter at work, leaving the reading glasses behind. Once I bought some cords for the glasses, but I don't know where they are. Stick on labels work fine for name labels. Clear tape helps secure them & may keep the ink from smearing. Might as well label those umbrella handles, too, using the same type of label or masking tape or luggage tags on the straps. We might think of our activities as one lovely summer camp for seniors, lovely except for trips to the infirmary, that is. Time for the name tags! Enjoy. When I asked this question before, everyone gave such great answers that it was really, really tough to choose a Best Answer. Hope people go back & read the ones that were submitted later, toward the end. I was all set this month finally to select one of those very fine health tips, such as the important ones we rec'd this time on water, potassium, & stayin' alive in hot weather. Or, maybe I'd choose one of those who expanded on my labelling suggestion in the most useful ways. However, when I got home from the library last night, I thought of one that I kept coming back to with a chuckle the rest of the evening. That had to count for something. Shouldn't creativity be rewarded?
I HAVE AN AIRLINE TRAVEL QUESTION? I am preparing for a vacation to miami. I heard that u can only bring 3 oz liquids on board. Is it ok for me to put my shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, etc. into clear, label less containers? i am not sure if the stuff i use comes in travel size. what i'm saying is, will the airline throw away my stuff if there is no label on it? i don't think i want to check a bag for fear of checking fees and lost luggage.
Alcohol on a Plane...with special circumstances? Alright, so I'm 20 years old (underage) and I am flying to Ohio in about a month. TSA/Airline/Medications.? I put all of my necessary pills in one big bottle and brought them with me here to another state by car, not expecting that I'd need to fly home on emergency. Many of them are prescription drugs, yes, legally distributed. I no longer have a doctor/health insurance as of this month, due to financial issues and being too old for my pediatrician's practice..so I'm unable to provide a note. How on earth will I be able to bring my drugs home with me? Will the TSA folks open every bottle and check for labels? I am seriously concerned. I'd pack them in my checked luggage, but that seems even worse...I'd use a pill-case, but they'd most likely open every slot and notice that they're not merely tylenol and vitamins... I understand that each person goes through a metal detector, but not an x-ray scanner, correct? So, feasibly, if worst comes to worst, I could 'crotch' them? Please understand the dire nature of this situation. Any suggestions?

Where can I find out about international airline regulations? I'm flying home from a six-week study abroad and want to bring home a few things: -Several bottles of liquor--exceeding the 1 liter limit/person, but I've heard the tax for going over is small -Two packs of cigarettes (two friends who are smokers want labels in Czech) -A regular lighter (for one of the aforementioned smokers) I didn't have any of these things on the way over (I'm not a smoker), so I'm not sure how customs works. What do I pack in my checked luggage, and what in my carry-ons? How and where do I declare things? If anyone has experience with this or knows where to find the information, please let me know. Thanks!
Anyone know anything about these American Tourister 'Enchantment' by Samsonite laptop cases? Hey there! I've seen some laptop cases I really like in a couple of stores locally, but try as I might I can't find a website for them to compare prices (the high street is hideously expensive where I live, so I always compare prices before I buy, and just buy it online if it's a lot cheaper, which it usually is!). The labels on them say they are American Tourister by Samsonite, and they come in various styles and colors, of the sort designed to appeal to women around college age. There is a backpack style which is the one I'm interested in, plus an over the shoulder tote and a briefcase with short handles and an optional long strap. I've also seen a rolling suitcase in the same style. I think they're called the Enchantment range, but the only mention I've seen of them online is random pages in price-comparison websites and the like. Like here: http://www.buy.com/prod/american-tourister-enchantment-29-rolling-upright/q/loc/16234/205844045.html (this is the rolling case) http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/american-tourister-enchantment-boarding-bag (this is the briefcase style with the short handles) Does anyone know more about this line of luggage, like are they still around or have they been discontinued? Anyone have links for a decent store I can get them (preferably with European delivery)? I tried a couple of the ones I found in the shopping sites, but they don't seem to work :-( Any other info on this elusive line would be greatly appreciated, including feedback on whether you liked it if you own a piece! Thanks!
Omg...just because I'm black and a woman I cant.... Do you think this will ever go away in society?? O.k. I work in a very busy environment at the airport ..im a skycap..you know those ppl that push the wheelchairs and help ppl that have too much luggage that they cant handle..anyways I like to talk to my passengers when im helping them ask questions ect until im done with them.... and sometimes they ask is this all i do and i say no then I talk about myself being in school to be a pediatrician ..im just doing this as a part time job until i get into my internship they look in shock and say "oh really!? that’s good" then a fake smile then they start saying things like.."Are you sure you can keep up with these subjects they’re really hard" or are you sure you will be able to keep up in medical school that’s hard as undergrad...maybe I should try a major that’s less of a challenge ..and these are my white passengers saying this...(no offense to anyone)....I get the same from sexist guys as well..and I also get comments like are you sure you can do this job this is more or a mans job... these bags are too heavy for you...you’re so skinny..im like don’t let my size fool you..then I smile....Omg just because im black and a woman I cant do these things am I suppose to be dumb and weak??I also hate the streotype that just because im tall I should play basketball(im 6ft or 6'1)..not all tall girls play ball .....I also hate that just because I call a white guy cute or because I listen to rock and not much rap...Im going against my race im not "really black"....I don’t look @ color ...and if I think ANY guy is cute no matter what race then im going say it... and if I like a song then im going to listen to it no matter what type...Im so use to this stuff too its just sometimes it can get a little annoying..and I like the job for now until i find a internship or something..cause the money is good when the tips add up..lol..im just tired of the label sometimes i guess..and whats sad is that im use to it and can tolerate it ..why should i have to be use to something like this??
Should I stay or should I go? I am feeling really crazy. My life is NOT where I thought it would be - I am young, in my 20s and I have a child. I am a Good mother, I take my child out daily, I teach him what I can and give him plenty of child-friendly experiences. My bf is sick - as in he has always had illnesses and everytime he goes to the GP or hospital there seems to be something new to distress us, something new to worry about. He has family abroad we always send money to and he is always asking me to pay for some big extravegent gift for him when we haven't even sorted out the bills and debts. Somehow I used to think it was romantic that he was needy but now I just wonder if I need someone who is more manly? When I say I don't want to buy the latest gadgets etc he compares me to his relatives wives who "want their homes to look modern and nice". I've been the perfect gf and I've been the loving mother, I'm changing careers and I'm trying to arrange my life so I can be the sole provider. But I'm sick of it. I feel like I've been taken for granted. I fought against my family saying that this is the man for me and that's how I ended up giving him a child, now when I look at him I don't see a man, I see a goofy idiot who lazes around all the time saying he is sick and the only time I can get him to pay attention to me or go out with me (about once every few months) he insists on carrying cans of beer in public because he has anxiety problems. I just want a guy to make me feel special, I want to go out and forget all these worries and not be accompanied by this guy. I don't want to break up because he is the father of my child but when I am working full time I will have no need for him anymore and I don't know if the fondness I feel for him will ever be true love again. I hate the label single mother, but having this guy and all his luggage hanging off me is weighing me down majorly. I try to have sex with him nearly every day because I want to feel like I have someone who loves me. I don't know why but I cannot get the attention I want any other way. The less attention I get the more I want. I am actually in contact with my ex who is this older guy from immediately before this relationship. Its not a great option anyway because he is married now, but I just want someone to show me a nice time. I thought if we are both in relationships then we can have something special on the side. Do I want to be this person??? I'm not sure I do although it is exciting to think about something new. I'm sure when I'm back to work and my child is at nursery things will be different, but then, should I just move on? Do you stay with the guy you loved and chance that you waste MORE time and energy? Its all begun to feel like a chore.
Ideas for 24 hour plane flight. ? My boyfriend is flying from Canada to Australia [where I am] in 4 weeks and so in a couple of days I'm sending him a little present with travel type things or stuff he can use on the plane. It's the first time he's flown. I bought some luggage tags with big Australia signs on them so he can label and they'll be easily noticeable for him And I bought a book called "747 things to do on a plane" - its funny and its got a few words puzzles etc in there too. He's not into crosswords/sudoku etc. That's my thing lol. Any more ideas?
Do you think this taxi driver deserve to be fired? Okay, so I got off the airport and got a ride in this taxi ( the can driver he was not an american, I won't expose his nationality or else i would be labeled as a racist). After we arrived at my final destination, the guy just stopped the car and stared at his back mirror (probably at me). So I paid him ($30.90) for the trip plus tip for a total of $33. Then he just sat at the driver's seat and I was thinking, "aren't you gonna help me to get my luggage out?" So I got out of the car, and It was snowing and freezing. Finally I got my luggage out by myself, closed the door while said "Thank you", him being the douche he is, without responding with a "you're welcome" and just screeched away. I thought that was absolutely rude and he deserve to get punished if not fired for such attitude!
Batteries on aircraft are a serious hazard. Should FAA wait until there is a fire/crash before acting? USA today; WASHINGTON — A rash of fires on planes has spurred the government to plan new restrictions on how airline passengers may carry lithium batteries used to power laptop computers and cellphones. The Department of Transportation, which already bars bulk shipments of some lithium batteries on passenger planes, expects to propose more restrictions later this year, said Bob Richard of the DOT's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. While the agency has no immediate plans to ban the batteries from carry-on luggage, he said, the risks of batteries in airplane cabins are being studied. Restrictions on carrying the batteries in checked items are possible, Richard said. "We recognize that the American public wants to be able to carry their batteries and electronic equipment aboard aircraft, but we have to weigh the safety issues," he said. "Any fire aboard an aircraft is unacceptable." Fire safety officials, airline pilots and consumer groups are pushing for new rules on the batteries. At least nine fires involving lithium batteries have happened on airplanes or in cargo destined for planes since 2005, according to federal safety records reviewed by USA TODAY. None of the fires caused serious injuries. Until new rules are in place, Richard said, his agency and the Federal Aviation Administration are asking companies that make and ship the batteries to take voluntary steps to ease fire risks. The agencies also will launch a safety awareness campaign for passengers. FIND MORE STORIES IN: National Transportation Safety Board | Safety | UPS | Philadelphia International Airport | Batteries Lithium batteries come in two types: lithium metal, which are single-use, and lithium-ion, which can be recharged. Both store energy that generates intense heat during a short circuit. A short can occur if metal touches both terminals or if internal seals fail. Some low-cost or counterfeit batteries lack safeguards against short circuits, and manufacturing defects have rendered such protections useless in others. In the last year, more than 4 million lithium batteries have been recalled for such problems. Battery industry representatives acknowledge that new cargo restrictions may be needed. They also have agreed to set voluntary standards on packaging and labeling shipments. But they see no need to bar laptops or other devices on planes. "Bringing these onto an aircraft doesn't present any additional danger, provided you take care of your batteries," said George Kerchner, head of the Portable Rechargeable Battery Association. Bulk shipments of lithium metal batteries were banned on passenger flights in 2004, in part because fires in those batteries are especially hard to put out. But the Air Line Pilots Association, the largest pilots union, wants cargo flights included in the ban, too. The National Association of State Fire Marshals says bulk transport of lithium-ion batteries also should be restricted, particularly on passenger flights. But Maine State Fire Marshal John Dean, president of the association, said the question of whether to ban the rechargeable batteries in carry-on items needs more study. A battery fire in a carry-on bag would be more easily detected and controlled by crew, Dean said. And, given the popularity of laptops and cellphones, banning them in carry-ons would be difficult. Regulators "are caught in the middle," Dean said. "But if you think about being on a passenger plane and one of these catches fire — even if the crew can control it, that's a bad situation with all the smoke." Plane is bad place for bad battery Smoke began wafting from a passenger's laptop about 15 minutes before a United Airlines jet was to depart from Los Angeles last September. Passengers on a Lufthansa jet about to leave Chicago in May noticed smoke coming from an overhead bin in first class. Last November, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent in Los Angeles pulled some cellphone batteries out of a cargo flight from China for inspection. One of the batteries burst into flames on a desk, spewing fire, sparks and smoke. In each incident, documented in a list kept by the Federal Aviation Administration, fires erupted in lithium batteries. No planes crashed, and injuries were minor, but the fires are prompting a new look at safety standards for the batteries and whether they should be allowed on flights. According to government and industry officials, the world's insatiable demand for more power is clashing with safety needs on aircraft.
What would you do if this happened to you? I checked in 1 piece of luggage at the airline counter and received a baggage claim receipt with my boarding pass. This was for a round-trip plane ticket. Shockingly, upon arriving, my checked back was not in with the other bags that came out in baggage claim. The next day, the bag still did not come to the airport. I notified the customer service in both the departure and arrival cities, and was told "Your bag is NOT here, we apologize." The loss of items including the bag itself would have amounted to over $1,000 dollars. Finally I had to make my return flight and STILL had not yet gotten my checked bag back. After completing my roundtrip travel, I was back in the airport I originally started from. Astonishingly, I found my bag in the baggage claim service with my name on the bag and the wrong tag label improperly attached to the bag. When I confronted customer service, they said "We're sorry, we didn't know this was your bag." Opening the bag, I found the bag was looted, all the valuables inside the bag were gone, my shaver was broken apart, and the cost of items stolen amounted to over 500 dollars. Should I get reimbursed for this? How would you handle it if it were your bag? In addition, I lost an irreplaceable item (photographs of a recent trip I took along with all the negatives) One of the reasons I had a false sense of security was I had to PAY $25 each way to have my bag checked.
Traveling with the NuvaRing? I am planning to go on vacation on August 6-14th. I am supposed to reinsert a new NuvaRing on August 9th. Since I have them refridgerated right now (because they are not supposed to be in warm temperatures), I am worried about taking them out and traveling with them. The label says that they should not be at temperatures above 86 degrees F. If I put one of my Nuvarings in my luggage, I think it could possibly reach this temperature. Does anyone know if it's okay to carry a Nuvaring in your carry on? I don't want to mess anything up because I just started Nuvaring yesterday and my body is still adjusting to everything, so I don't want to do anything to mess with the efficacy.

Should I throw him out of my house tonight? Help me decode this note and decide what to do...? Together since December, his roomate kicked him out and he ended up here. I always said it was a bad idea. We started out the relationship with no labels. He said he had feelings for me, and i did for him, we were taking it slow. Since hes moved in its not been working. I saw condoms in his see-through travel bag and overreacted by going drinking. When he was staying gone until midnight after i said i needed space i accused him of having a date. I was half joking. We stopped having sex. Now i discovered this note on his dresser... fact delusion you saidwe wont have sex ever you dont trust me...insecurity you got drunk and smoked pot important decisions based when discovered condoms in my on assumptions luggage that weekend...dancing with your guy friend...crying two hours (drunk) I really missed you with i called from Mexico during Christmas and Valentines Day. My friend said he hung out with them last night. They asked where i was and he said i dont know, do you know where your roomate is. After that i guess he went home. He kissed me and asked if i was okay and went and got us a movie. Is it over? i dont get it.

Double Customs Confiscation at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas (IAH)? Early this month, my wife and I arrived in George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas (IAH) from our vacation. We declared some "commercial merchandise" on US Customs Form 6059b. Those goods are samples and articles for sale (childrens toys and accessories). I have a small bookstore in our hometown. We estimated the "total value of all goods" was less than a $1000 for both of us. My wife bought several replica handbags on our trip for her friends in the US. When the customs officers (at least three officers) searched our luggages, they didn't believe those handbags are personal items. They also said they look like the real, brand-name bags that cost easily over $2000. We gave them the receipts that show the purchase prices in foreign currency. They totaled the prices, and converted the total to US Dollar. Still, they didn't believe they cost less than $500. They said our luggages would be shipped to our hometown, and we needed a customs broker to clear our commercial merchandise. They also said they tried to contact our airlines (Singapore Airlines) office in Houston to get the proper forms, but could not reach anyone. A week later we went back to Houston and stopped by SQ cargo and Houston Customs (CBP) with a detailed list of all the goods that we purchased on our vacation. We talked to a CBP officer in the front office, and showed him the list. He said he would personally open our luggages and destroy anything improper or not labeled correctly. I signed a form saying it's OK for him to do so. About three weeks later, the same CBP officer called me, and said our luggages are cleared and ready for pickup. We went back to SQ cargo to pick up our luggages. When we got home, my wife found out her personal items were taken in the second round of confiscation: . Several replica ladies handbags, . One new ladies watch she bought at Macy's in Texas before our vacation, . Several new ladies scarfs, and . One new table runner. I was fortunate none of my personal belongings (books, medicines, food, etc.) were taken in the second round of confiscation. Also none of childrens merchandise (stickers, toys, arts and crafts, etc.) for my bookstore were taken. In retrospect, IAH CBP cost us much time and money by prolonging this ordeal for about a month when they could have confiscated the ladies handbags in the first round of confiscation on the day of our arrival. We clearly told the CBP officers they were replica handbags, and we showed them their sales receipts as proofs. However, they chose to ignore our claims and sales receipts, and asked us to get a customs broker to clear our goods instead. Our mistake was that we brought the ladies handbags to IAH with us, and we did not ask the CBP officers to take and destroy them in the first round of confiscation. What would you have done in this situation?
Laptop broken by airline? Hi! Basically during a recent international flight my work laptop was broken by the airline. When I checked in I was told my carry on luggage, containing my laptop computer was too heavy. It was the right size but about 3 kilos over. I was told to check it in, which I did, although I was nervous about it as the laptop was in it. I pointed this out to the lady at the check in desk but they did not suggest I carry on the laptop and basically did not offer any alternatives. I asked for it to be treated as fragile and nervously left it with them. It was not labelled fragile like I asked when I collected it at the airport on the other side. When I unpacked it it was broken. Its outer shell had a long crack on it and the screen is not working properly. It is completely unusuable. I am really upset as it was work property and I forgot to renew my travel insurance recently. I sent an email of complaint to the airline and they sent a generic cut and paste reply from their terms and conditions saying that as it was fragile they won't assume responsibility. I sent one back saying I accept it was fragile but I felt their employees should have advised me differently. What to do now? (Sorry for venting!) I just wanted to add too that I did ask to bring it on and basically was told check it in or miss the flight which was not an option due to work. So no to all those you have answered in a insulting manner, I was not stupid., I was not given a choice. That is why I'm so annoyed!
A single Woman being SCREWED over again when it comes to a CAR? I bought a used truck from a buy here pay here on Feb. 2, 2009, I have $2000.00 in it. The day I bought the car, I put $700 down on the car and was to make $75 a week payments. As I am out of town most of the month I requested from the Salesman/part owner of the lot that I wanted to pay by-weekly, he said no problem.Only that I needed to pay my first payment that week and then I could go on by-weekly. Ok now he told me I needed to pay the $337 of taxes, $45 filing,$10 30 day tags, and $10 Lien(?) making it a total of $402 more, due within 25 days. At the end of the month I was unable to come up with that amount as I was having some unexpected expenses come up. So I told him I couldn't pay it then but would try as soon as possible. Not knowing this, (I was paying my payments with credit card over the phone ) I was being charged an extra late charge saying I was late 2 weeks so that was an Additional 100 month. 3months have gone by and I get home from Pittsburgh PA to Toledo OH last night late, I unloaded all my luggage all but my briefcase. I stopped long enough to use the restroom and returned to get my briefcase and empty containers of coffee and pop mugs only to find my truck was gone.I was very upset. I called the car lot first thing this morning and was told that my truck was reposed for being 2 weeks late. My bi-weekly was due 5 days ago and I was planning on going in today to make my payment. Now I am really upset, was told that all owners were on vacation after getting the run around was able to talk to "the manger", who told me that I was two weeks late and that they tow the car if two weeks late. By then I was getting furious after asking around he informed me they never found a briefcase in my Truck. And after telling him I had made arrangement for payments by-weekly and that I wasn't late 2 weeks. He put me on hold and came back and told me that the reason it was towed was because I owed the $402 of tax and etc.. from Feb and that the order for Repoed had gone out last Monday. Now the receptionist on Tues. called me on my cell while in Pitts to remind me I was late on my payment. I told her I would be home on Thurs and would be in on Friday to take care of it. She said ok. And that was that. So now if that is the case why didn't she inform me on Tuesday about the truck ordered to be repoed for not paying the $402. I never was asked again about that amount since the day I bought the car and frankly it had slipped my mind also. Now to get back to my briefcase As I said I had just gotten home from Pittsburgh and had been paid I also had other important things like contracts and private information for companies that I was working with in there. Anyway a Palm, tri-vision glasses $360, 3 OS Disks, and the majority of my wages, partly in cash and the rest in money orders and travelers checks. My briefcase alone was a Samsonite Leather Briefcase worth $295.00. Now looking on line for laws in Ohio for used cars sales, I found something very important when looking through the lot of cars There wasn't one car that had a Buyers Form Label on none of the cars for sale.Violation of federal law (16 C .F.R.455). They have told me that I have to pay $902.00 to get my truck back. What do I do, what is my recourse here. Without my truck I am losing money and will until I I get it back. Please some advise and or suggestions. Sky
how come my chivalry gets frowned upon by some? ive always naturally been like this probably from how my parents raised me. for example, i wait for everyone to be seated at the table before i do; even just with friends or at parties, i always hold the door open for people, i help with luggage or carrying things for women and old people, or men if they seem to have a hard time. i always offer my jacket to those who are cold, things like that naturally come to me but somehow it may seem that more and more people criticize and say that girls don't need help and i should only do so if asked. and if i do help without being asked, i might be labeled sexist when im just trying to be courteous and nice, as i dont seek even a smile or thanks as return. Im afraid acting this way will some people hate me or think im being a suck-up. should i keep doing what is natural to me or should i start thinking about those actions before i do them? (like am i supposed to calculate like, "oh this girl seems capable of handling this situation on her own" and just let her try and help only if something goes wrong? im a little puzzled and i want to know how girls think about it. thank you! and i dont really take it by sex, its just that i see that men really need the least help most of the time. but of course id offer my seat to and elderly man anytime at a train or taxi stop. and i feel its better for a man to suffer than a woman because women already have a lot to deal with such as, having to make sure all their belongings, hand carrys and bags are ok, and things like that so it would be nice to let off the hassle for them. i dont know why i think that way but is it wrong?
